Mid-Term Primary
_____________________________________
Sisters before me fought for the right
Not all that many years ago
Empowering us with legal might
I’m not willing to forgo
Mid-term, special, general or primary
If there’s a ballot to be cast I’ll cast one
Even when all of the options are scary
I’ll keep voting til my breath is the last one
*
Some say it’s a duty, that you’re morally bound
I understand it’s a choice
For some it’s an inconvenient run-around
For me, the quietest way to raise my voice
“Every vote counts” some people scoff, well I believe that it’s true
Some believe the candidate is pulling a fast one
But with my polling station I have a rendezvous
I’ll keep voting til my breath is the last one.
