Colossal samara sculpture spinning

The gentle breeze provoking giant seed

Around the garden at a ghostly speed

The bronze patinaed green and weathered well

Enormous silent, it has me grinning

The towering art, not aunaturel

At Rest

_____________________________________

Simply resting in the dropseed

Reclined among the beautiful

Mighty fine respite indeed

Gaze stays the same through the seasons.

All my senses I must employ

Remaining right here for reasons

Among the nature I enjoy

*

I never tire of the view

In fact it energizes me

Through time there’s always something new.

Just leave me right here, I am fine

Under my blanket of grasses

Gathering up all the sunshine

Just art to the passing masses.

Stone Seeds

_____________________________________

The acorns soundly lie

Beneath oak trees sky high

Too large to yield to whims of squirrels

Will never multiply

While others sprout nearby

From stone seeds only silence unfurls.

Permanent Bloom

_____________________________________

In a garden full of real blooms

I’m drawn to the metal flowers

On the gates of the garden rooms

*

Lasting eons instead of hours

Never bothered by garden pests

Patinaed by weather’s power

*

Within may still find insect nests

Though not a perfect habitat

Upon it you’ll find a bird rests

We will honor the family who gave it

We will not allow eminent domain

An open space this garden shall remain

There’s a garden to save and we’ll save it.

We’re not prone to fighting but we’ll brave it.

There must be another space for new fields

From demolition this place we will shield

There’s a garden to save and we’ll save it.

Oh no! We will not let you pave it.

This too is a place for children learning

The school board’s proposal we are spurning

There’s a garden to save and we’ll save it.

We will honor the family who gave it

There’s a garden to save and we’ll save it.

Smiling Parents

Holding hands

In jean shorts and polo shirts

Walking just a few paces behind

Flowing gowns

Heeled shoes

Crisp tuxedos

*

New loves

First loves

Smiling laughing chatting arm in arm

Holding bouquets and hems of dresses

Taking selfies

Group shots

Posing proudly

*

Dodging daffodils

Compacting grass

Please don’t step on the flowers

Sir this is a public garden

Sparkly departures

Firm handshakes

Waving goodbyes
