A 5-7-5 poem. Historically called a haiku but in Japanese tradition a haiku is more than just 3 unrhymed lines of 5-7-5 syllables. A haiku features images of nature, setting in a particular season, and some sort of juxtaposition in addition to the familiar syllable count. So, not meeting these requirements I call these 5-7-5 poems.

November 13

Like the pine needles

Quieting every footstep

On the asphalt path

*

A long walk outside

Quiets the noise in my mind

In only moments

*

Needled evergreens

Buffer the sounds of the road

The park is peaceful

*

Gone from the office

Far from the water cooler

And daily grumbles

*

A needed lunchtime escape

Prepared for the afternoon

First Day of Summer

Under an umbrella of sunshine, white clover flowers rise above their own heart-shaped foliage amidst a green mat of linear leaves. They shudder in the warm gentle breeze, stopping only momentarily before vibrating again.

Bees visit flowers

Buzzing to bring life before

Mower buzzes through
