Plucky

_____________________________________

Tiny seed settles in a crack

Dormant during the winter storms

Emerging from the dark tarmac

As the cold solid soil warms

*

Strongly choosing not to conform

Tiny seed settles in a crack

Seemingly bucking all the norms

Some folks may be taken aback

*

Of course there are a few drawbacks

But tradition doesn’t inform

Tiny seed settles in a crack

Persistently the plant performs

*

Through every season she transforms

For success she has quite the knack

While refusing to be uniform

Tiny seed settles in a crack.

February 23

No worries, I Have Big Shoes

_____________________________________

Why would someone use that old phrase

about having big shoes to fill?

Just boggles the mind even still.

Who uses that statement these days?

*

I’ll set you straight with no delays,

see these size 12s are filled with skill.

Why would someone use that old phrase

About having big shoes to fill?

*

So how about sharing praise,

don’t talk of people’s shoes to fill,

and explain to me, if you will,

why someone would use that old phrase.
