Don’t Judge

_____________________________________

Is that purple violet a weed?

No, Indeed!

*

Is the dandelion a pest?

Surely you jest!

*

What do I see in these beauties?

Precious cuties!

*

Let’s stop being so plant snooty

Stop judging every small flower

Without knowing its great power

No indeed, surely you jest! Precious cuties!

Beauty Comes from All Angles

_____________________________________

We

Need to

Focus on

Admiring

The backs of flowers

Delighting in beauty

From every single angle

Exploring glory tucked away

As well as the grace sent skyward

Slyly distracting from all the splendor.

In Like A Lion

_____________________________________

Calendar says spring

But it’s still snowing

A vernal foot has fallen

The flakes weigh so much

Folks complain and such

Likely praying for pollen

*

Not me though, I’m thrilled

A snowman I’ll build

Snow any time of the year

Produces such joy

Others I annoy

As I let out a loud cheer.

Lesson Learned

_____________________________________

Did you know you can feel your heart break?

I learned that two short years ago today.

It is more than a twinge or a cramp or an ache

I was fearful it would not go away.

Turns out some time will mend a heartbreak

Though I feel the scars remain to this day.

It’s a good lesson to know what’s at stake

If you find you have someone’s heart someday.

There’s lessons in trauma, make no mistake

The worth of this is crucial to convey.

It’s good for a bit of perspective

_____________________________________

Power’s back on, what a relief

It’s an inconvenience at best

Two days without causes such grief

Really the problem is minor

*

Into day three I was stressed

Thankfully the outage was brief

And for that I feel quite blessed

I should stop being a whiner

*

I shake my head in disbelief

At the large numbers of oppressed

Who’s daily life is this great grief

Only rare systems are finer

*

Disparate access should be addressed

Everyone should feel this relief.

Perspective

_____________________________________

Perspective

Is a fucked up thing

You think your shit’s bad

Just open your heart to

Another person.

Get them comfortable with you, listen

Earn their trust.

Then you’ll maybe get some perspective.

You think life’s fucked up?

Nope – not even a little

Life is fucking fantastic

Share it with someone struggling

Be kind. Have empathy. Listen.

Perspective is the greatest gift.

11 Months of Flying Time

———————————————-

Time flies when you have fun they say

And it’s been going in a blink of an eye.

How is it its already 11 months today?

Boy those days sure did fly.

I suppose it’s good that we’ve had our clashes

Our challenges and our brawls

Otherwise the days would have passed as lightening flashes

With barely a moment to enjoy them all.

So here’s to the sad times, may they be scant

Just enough to keep us in line

Reminding us to savor the moments that enchant

And to let the others wither on the vine.
